We chose ingredients that are good for you in so many ways we want you to know about them. We use almond and coconut flour with small amounts of natural sweeteners that won't spike your blood sugar levels. Packed with protein and fiber, our baked goods are nutritious and delicious! These little goodies are moist and filling, with organic fillings and natural sweetness, you are definitely clean indulging.

BASE INGREDIENTS

Almond Flour

 

Almond flour is highly nutritious, high in protein and low in carbs and sugars. Almonds are high in mono-unsaturated fats, which is the same healthy fat found in olive oil, associated with reduced risk of heart disease, and shown to lower LDL cholesterol. They are a good source of vitamin E which has antioxidant action, as well as magnesium, potassium and vitamin B. Almond flour has a low glycemic index and has great nutritional advantage over processed flour.

Coconut Flour

 

Coconut flour is really high in dietary fiber, nearly 6 times as much as whole grain flour. Because of the high fiber content, it doesn't spike blood sugar like grain based flour. In addition, it is high in lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties.  Coconut flour helps with digestion, is low in carbohydrates, high in protein and has a low glycemic index.

 

Walnuts

 

Walnuts contain a wide variety of health benefits. Other than the Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, they also contain ellagic and gallic acid which supports the immune system. They are high in polyphenols which have great antioxidant activity.  Walnuts have anti-inflammatory nutrients and support bone, cardiovascular, and brain health. 

 

Coconut Oil

 

Coconut oil is good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system because it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids, which are easily digested and although a saturated fat, it has been shown that MCFs are good for heart health, not bad. Additionally, coconut oil has been shown beneficial for heart, brain, skin, hair, and immune health.

 

Stevia

 

Stevia is a green leafy plant native to South America. It has been used in other countries for centuries for food and medicinal purposes, and is naturally sweet. The compounds that are isolated from stevia leaves are Stevioside and Rebaudioside A, which are hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, however most Stevia is about 10% stevioside. More importantly, stevia is zero-calorie and has been shown to even assist with glucose regulation. Because stevia is all natural, it does not contain the chemical sweeteners that other zero calorie sweeteners contain, like aspartame. 

 

Xylitol

 

Xylitol is a five-carbon sugar alcohol (table sugar is 6-carbon) that is naturally found in fibrous fruits, vegetables, hardwood trees. It is even produced in our own bodies and a normal part of the human metabolism.  Xylitol resembles sugar in consistency and taste, but has 40 percent fewer calories and 75 percent fewer carbohydrates than sugar. Additionally, xylitol is not easily converted to fat and has almost no effect on insulin levels, making it a great alternative for diabetics, bodybuilders and dieters. Xylitol has been shown to increase the activity of white blood cells involved in fighting bacteria, with its antimicrobial properties can help prevent tooth decay, and enhance mineral absorption in tooth enamel. WARNING: Xylitol is not pet friendly! Do not feed this to your pets!
