Hainanese chicken and rice is a street-food favourite in Malaysia. The dish was adapted from early Chinese immigrants who hailed from the tropical, southernmost island province of Hainan. Today, it’s popular throughout Malaysia. It can take different forms, including roasted chicken options, and rice balls rather than a bowl of rice.
